An Intimate Adventure Wedding in Greece – Capturing Alex & Alivia’s Story
The first time I met Alex and Alivia was over a video call to talk about their wedding. Right away, I noticed how connected they were—sitting close, holding hands, finishing each other’s sentences. It was clear how much they cared for each other, and I had a feeling their wedding would be something special.
Their wedding took place in early March, my first of the season, and I was excited to start the year with such a meaningful celebration. They had chosen Villa Delenia in Nea Styra on the Greek island of Evia—an under-the-radar spot that feels untouched by mass tourism. The venue itself is secluded, with little around for miles. Even getting a coffee means a 30-minute drive to town, which only added to the sense of privacy. It felt like the perfect place for an intimate adventure wedding in Greece.
One of the moments that stood out to me was right before the ceremony when everyone gathered to pray. It was a quiet, heartfelt pause that set the tone for the rest of the day. The ceremony itself was small and simple, held right by the water, with only close family present. The connection between everyone was obvious, and I could see how much this day meant not just to Alex and Alivia, but to the people who love them.
Afterward, I suggested we take some photos at a rocky beach nearby. It’s not an easy place to get to—steep and uneven, the kind of spot most people would avoid. But when I mentioned the idea to Alex and Alivia, they were immediately excited about it. The setting felt almost cinematic, with waves crashing against the rocks and nothing but the open sea in front of them. They chose to read their vows there, and it was one of those moments that didn’t need any direction from me. They were fully present, and I just had to capture it as it unfolded.
This wedding was also personally significant for me because, after years of shooting only digital, I had started using film again. I was eager to see how it would handle the bright Greek light and the rich tones of the landscape. The mix of film and digital gave me a chance to slow down and be more intentional with each shot, and I loved the results. But honestly, what made the photos stand out wasn’t the format—it was Alex and Alivia and how much they embraced the experience.
Looking back, what I appreciate most about this intimate adventure wedding in Greece is how true it was to them. No elaborate plans, no pressure to follow traditions just for the sake of it—just a day that felt completely theirs. I’m grateful to have been part of it and to have captured a piece of their story.
