What could top a proposal in Anguilla? A wedding in Athens, with stunning views to the sea would do it of course! While Jim may have set a very high standard when he kneeled down on one knee and proposed to Georgia during an exotic holiday, this New York couple managed to find an even more impressive location for their wedding day. Island Art & Table is on the Athens Riviera, in the southern suburbs of the country’s capital and epitomises the best of Athenian luxury and elegance. It is well-known for its unbeatable strategic location overlooking Attica’s cliffs and turquoise waters, as well as its superior aesthetics, making it an excellent choice for this stunning couple looking to tie the knot. The bride and groom forwent a traditional, religious wedding, opting instead for a symbolic and intimate ceremony officiated by Georgia’s best friend.
The modern and elegant décor was in perfect harmony with Island Art & Table’s swankiness, with the bride’s favourite touch being the arch under which vows were exchanged, which was adorned with a mix of white flowers: roses, hortensias and astilbe. The vows, which were written by Georgia and Jim themselves, were very original and personal and brought a tear to their guests’ eyes. The couple’s aim for the day was to let the natural beauty of the landscape shine in order to put the spotlight on themselves and their loved ones. Indeed, they managed to do that very successfully: once the sun set, the terrace was lit up with candles and string lights, which created the perfect atmosphere was a romantic dinner and lively celebration. The backdrop of the beautiful blue sea against Island Art & Table’s lush garden and the Greek sky made for a wedding that will in no doubt remain unforgettable for all attendees, including myself as an Athens Greece wedding photographer who had the great honour to be there.
